There is an international trend for industrial areas located around international airports to grow faster than other industrial nodes.

International airports are important logistical hubs in a regional economy and are a driving force for development. The advanced infrastructure linking airports to other business centers make them more accessible.

The above can safely be said for Cape Town’s Airport Industria with plans to link Cape Town’s international airport to the Cape Town city centre with the Rapid Bus system for 2010 FIFA World Cup. The N2 highway is also currently being upgraded.

Airport Industria and Airport City are located alongside the Cape Town International Airport and the N2 highway. Airport Industria is also closely linked to major industrial areas; Epping, Parow Industria and other major industrial nodes in the Southern and Northern suburbs. The upgrading of the M12 will provide a direct route through to the West Coast industrial and residential areas.

The core attraction of the Airport is for transport and logistics companies along with other industries dealing in international trade. Most of the major logistic and warehousing companies have established themselves at the airport.

Investing in an industrial building or industrial land in Airport Industria or Airport City is definitely a good strategic move for the future. At the moment there is good value to be found in the area but things will change as the economy starts to pick up.
