Paarden Eiland
Paarden Eiland is one of the oldest industrial areas in Cape Town but there is still a strong demand to locate there by Commercial and Industrial Tenants and Owner-Occupiers. It is also sought after by Commercial and Industrial property investors.
Paarden Eiland is strategically located at the entrance to the Cape Town port and it is popular with businesses that are focused on dealing with the port such as ship chandlers and exporters.
Most of the occupiers in Paarden Eiland are in the service industry but there is also manufacturing and an increasing amount of retail. There are a number of showrooms and shops located along Marine Drive and Paarden Eiland Road.
Paarden Eiland has proved popular with the DIY industry in particular and there are a number of home improvement showrooms and warehouses located in Paarden Eiland. The motor industry is also well represented with car sales dealerships on both Marine Drive and Paarden Eiland Road.
Paarden Eiland is serviced well by the regional road network with the N1 on the one boundary and the R27 (Marine Drive) on the other boundary. The Cape Town CBD is within easy travelling distance and the Southern Suburbs is accessed via the M5 at the intersection of Koeberg Road and Section Street.
Paarden Eiland is also serviced by an excellent public transport service which includes rail and the new MyCiti BRT bus service.
Although most of the factory and warehouse buildings in Paarden Eiland are quite dated and not suited to modern requirements, they still demand relatively high rentals because Paarden Eiland is so well located.
Recent industrial warehouse developments include the Table Bay Industrial Park in the Metro section of Paarden Eiland.
There is little land available for new developments but the redevelopment and refurbishment of older buildings continues to take place.
